Encouraging Diversity
Starting with the class of 2011, students will need two consecutive years in a world language other than English to graduate from high school. Colleges expect that students can demonstrate the equivalent of two years of a language other than English either through course work, testing or other demonstration. Students who are proficient in a language other than English can "test-out." This means that they can test to demonstrate their reading, writing, and speaking skills in that language and can earn a credit to meet this requirement.
